Central Piedmont Community College has successfully offered its HUM 120 Cultural Studies — Global 360 Virtual Term Abroad since June 2021, enrolling over 900 students to date.
I have been using the 360 GLE platform with my Humanities students for a number of semesters, in several different classes, and I’ve had great student responses. After my initial experience navigating the site and examining the content, I decided to modify one of my courses by restructuring it around the 360 GLE as an 8-week virtual study abroad. The students love it. I regularly receive emails from them mentioning how much they are learning, how their eyes have been opened to other ways of life, how their preconceptions were being overthrown, and how they have developed a desire to go abroad and experience these things first hand. Many have told me this was their favorite class they’ve taken at the college.
